There is a 7 week countdown period from Passover to Pentecost called the Omer. In the days of Moses following the deliverance from Egypt, the children of Israel counted the days as they waited in anticipation for the revelation of God's law. We now know it as a type and forshadowing of the ultimate encounter with God, after the resurrection of our perfect Passover Lamb, Who Is Yeshua, Ha Machiach, at Pentecost, also known as the Festival of Weeks, the giving of the Ruach Ha Kodesh (the Holy Spirit). All of the post resurrection appearances of Jesus occurred during this 7 week period. It is a time of Jubilee.
After the crucifixion of our Lord, people were reeling in shock, yet they were also hearing rumors that He was appearing to many, alive. It was a time of uncertainty, but because of their tradition, they also knew that it was a time for repentance as well as anticipation.
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each of them. And they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. ~Acts 2:1-4
These Times Of Uncertainty
We are now experiencing great times of uncertainty. In little over a month's time, out world has significantly changed because of the Covid 19 pandemic. We long for normalcy but we no longer know what that means. Many of us hesitate to call "Maranatha" (Lord, come quickly) because we have unsaved family members yet to come into the sheepfold. Church meetings are risky because of infection but we desperately need each other.
I have to say that the enemy has been working overtime to keep me from writing and posting. The stress of lock down is getting to all of us. I think I understand now how zoo animals feel. I feel the need to do something, but I cannot concentrate. All the while, I have elderly parents who need help and live 5 hours away, we have a half built house, my daughter had to temporarily close her business, etc. I am sure that all of you have similar concerns.
I look forward and feel positive about taking gradual steps toward opening up the world again, even if it is a bit different. When the children of Israel went to cross the Jordan River to enter Jericho, the priests had to trust God and take the first step of faith into the water before the waters parted for them to cross over. (Joshua 3)
This morning my husband and I took a step of faith and went to a restaurant for breakfast and the business owners also took the step to open their dining room, with tables spaced out accordingly. Of course, I do not expect everyone to jump in and act as if there is no danger, but at the same time, it is my belief that a few healthy people must move forward. The enemy wants to keep us ignorant, weak and isolated.
I would like to mention that I am personally not in favor of a government mandated vaccine. I believe there are several promising alternative treatments that are unfortunately under reported and inaccurately reported. It is very troubling that much information that we have a right to know about is purposely being censored.
A one option only, mandated "official" treatment, media/narrative, lock down, or anything else that if not accepted by a group or individual, would keep them from participating in daily business, is just one step closer to the installation of the mark of the beast. Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can but or sell unless he has the mark, that is the name of the beast or the number of its name. ~Revelation 13:17
The German government of the 1930's convinced many frightened Jewish people to get onto trains that would take them to a "safe" place. The pursuit of peace and safety at all cost is very dangerous. While people are saying, "Peace and security," destruction will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. ~1 Thessalonians 5:3
I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful security. ~Thomas Jefferson
Things Hoped For
All that being said, I believe that God still has plans for America as well as other nations to be a light to the world for the Gospel of Jesus Christ if we hold fast to truth to keep our lamp stand burning and endure to the end. (Revelation 2 and 3) Would that include a great awakening and end time revival? I hope so. But eventually we will all have to come out from hiding and take a stand.
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father Who Is in heaven. ~Matthew 5:14-16
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. ~Hebrews 11:1-3
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. For by Me your days will be multiplied and years will be added to your life. ~Proverbs 9:10-11
So what shall we anticipate? Pentecost should always be a time of great expectation. I cannot wait to see what our Lord is going to do! He knows our fears as well as our needs. Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him. ~James 1:12
Pentecost begins the evening of May 28 (Sivan 6) through
