Psalm 30

Mourning To Dancing

A psalm and song at the dedication of the house of David.

I will exalt You Lord; for you have lifted me up and have not made my foes rejoice over me.

Lord my God, I cried to You and You have healed me.

Lord, You have brought up my life from the grave. You have kept me alive, so I would not go down to the pit.

Sing to the Lord, O you Godly ones of His and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness.

For His anger lasts but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may endure for a night, but a ringing cry of joyful praise comes in the morning.

And in my prosperity I said I shall never be moved.

Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong. You hid Your face and I was troubled.

I cried to You Lord, and to the Lord I made supplication.

What profit is there in my blood when I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth?

Listen, Lord! Be gracious to me! Lord, be my helper.

For me, You have turned my mourning into dancing. You have put off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness.

To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent, Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

This Psalm is special to me. My late husband, who passed from a brain tumor, treasured this Psalm while he was ill and Lord, my God, I cried to you and you have healed me, (verse 2/3) is on his gravestone. If you know the Lord, then that is not strange to you.

My precious Love went to be with the Lord at around 6am on May 3, 2015 just five days before his 65th birthday. The Lord woke everyone up and allowed him to wait until he was fully surrounded by family and friends. About a month after he passed, I saw him in a dream. He was sitting up on a bed in a very bright room dressed in white. He was young and healthy and I understood that he was in conversation with Yeshua. This brief glimpse was a sweet gift to me from the Lord.

Since then my mourning has turned into dancing (Verse 11/12a). I have remarried and although I still miss him every day as I always will, I am girded with gladness (verse 11/12b) and Lord, my God, I will give thanks to You forever (verse 12/13).

Note: Messianic versions, such as One New Man, Tree Of Life, and Complete Jewish Bible have " A psalm, a song for the dedication of the Temple, of David." as verse 1, so verse numbers are different than KJV, ESV, NIV, etc. I enjoy seeing several versions side by side. One New Man version (as above) is not listed here, but many versions are. Bible Gateway

I was blessed to be able to participate in this psalm project and read aloud. This is my voice in this Psalm 30 video created by Good Dog and Buttercup. Psalm 30: Thanksgiving for Deliverance from Death
